Anthropic hires Google TPU founder Amir Salek to pursue custom chips
创业邦 · wechat · 2026-08-23
Anthropic has hired Amir Salek, founder of Google's custom chip program, to join its compute team, signaling a move into in-house semiconductor development. Salek led the first seven generations of Google's TPU chips. While Anthropic currently relies on chips from Nvidia, Google, and Amazon, developing custom silicon could help mitigate supply shortages and tailor hardware to specific needs. Separately, Xinghaitu aims to deliver over 10,000 model-driven robots next year.
