DeepSeek slashes weekend API costs with flat off-peak pricing
机器之心 · wechat · 2026-08-23
DeepSeek announced a change to its API billing rules, effective August 23, making weekends entirely off-peak hours with lower uniform rates. Previously, peak pricing was up to 2x higher than off-peak, so this move significantly reduces costs for developers running batch tasks on weekends. Speculation suggests the peak-valley pricing might relate to internal compute resource allocation for model training. Additionally, driven by compute costs, some industries have begun adjusting work schedules to take advantage of cheaper rates.
