Geoffrey Irving elaborates on Quine's argument that the loopy mess is fine. We cannot ground each sentence into experiment one at a time in a directed acyclic fashion, but the entire web of language does ground into experiment in a coherent fashion. This provides a philosophical perspective on how AI models establish links to reality indirectly through large-scale data.
