Frontier AI has an epistemological problem requiring expert grounding

The author argues that current frontier AI has an epistemological problem: LLMs are based on sampling, not knowledge or understanding. AI answers require grounding in reality by an expert. It is compared to cheating in an exam: having the right answer is not the same as understanding.
