The 2026 AI for Science Conference was held in Haidian, Beijing, where the Haidian District officially launched the Zhongguancun (Haidian) AI4S Innovation Hub. Located in Xisanqi, the hub will coordinate 1.6 million square meters of industrial space and 740,000 square meters of pilot-scale space.
Industry Chain: Haidian has established a complete AI4S chain ranging from problem definition (Peking Univ., Tsinghua) to model R&D (AISI, BAAI) and commercialization (DeepPotential, BioGeometry). Companies like DeepPotential have achieved significant results in battery design and drug discovery.
Policy & Investment: Beijing released its first batch of 16 AI-empowered scientific research cases, 12 of which are based in Haidian. The hub plans to leverage an AI4S special fund alongside a 2 billion RMB achievement transformation fund, aiming to train 1,000 high-level talents annually to build a national AI4S flagship platform.
