OpenAI launches AI Futures blog; first post on concentration of power sparks debate

OpenAI has launched the AI Futures blog, with the first post by deanwball focusing on the most challenging risk area in AI policy: concentration of power.
jankulveit comments that he likes the re-statement of gradual disempowerment but dislikes 'concentration of power' as a conceptual handle, as it triggers instant responses like 'decentralization/superintelligence to every household' and leads to arguing against naive decentralization proposals. He notes that humans can be disempowered in highly distributed and decentralized fashion.
