AI Leaders' Public Statements Aim to Scare and Raise Funds, Not Discuss Social Benefits

DCinvestor points out that AI leaders' public statements serve mainly two purposes: to scare people into supporting regulation that entrenches their dominance, and to convince investors they will subsume all productive activity. Consequently, they are unable to credibly discuss the societal benefits of their products. To the general public, they appear extremely unlikeable and out of touch (with the exception of Jensen Huang), resembling "lizard people" in the style of Zuck.
