Specfill: TUI tool to interview you and fill gaps in project prompts
trashcoder · reddit · 2026-08-22
The author built specfill, a TUI tool to address missing decisions when writing project specifications before using coding agents.
Core Features:
- Analyzes specs, researches the topic, and interviews you one-by-one about missing architecture, behavior, edge cases, and UI/UX decisions.
- Incorporates answers into the original document, preserving structure and tone. New answers override contradictions; skipped questions remain unresolved.
Difference from Plan Mode: Plan Mode creates an implementation plan for the current session. Specfill creates a reusable project specification that can be committed as a record of architectural decisions.
Usage: Supports OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, etc. Run: uvx specfill.
