Neuralink in 7 Years: From Pig Brain Signals to 27+ Humans Controlling Machines by Thought
XFreeze · x · 2026-08-22
A timeline of Neuralink's progress:
- 2019: ultra-thin electrode threads revealed
- 2020: neural activity transmitted wirelessly from a pig
- 2021: monkey plays Pong with its mind
- 2023: FDA clears first human trial
- 2024: first human controls a computer with thought
- 2025: participants control robotic arms and other devices
- 2026: 27+ participants with thought-controlled computers, robotic arms and wheelchairs
The next goal: read motor-cortex signals and route them past a damaged spinal cord to restore full-body mobility — already demonstrated in animals. People with severe paralysis are already interacting with both digital and physical worlds via thought.
