DHH announced the nonprofit Omacom Foundation with $8 million in initial funding to hold trademarks, fund infrastructure, and support the open-source projects behind Omarchy. Eight Founding Patrons are each contributing $1 million, including Shopify CEO Tobi Lütke, Stripe CEO Patrick Collison, Dell CEO Michael Dell, Jack Dorsey, Cloudflare CEO Matthew Prince, and Oculus co-founder Brendan Iribe. DHH says Omarchy Quattro showed people what a malleable future computer looks like, and the mission is now to make it broadly available. The commenter notes the "Year of Linux on the Desktop" joke may finally come true given who's behind it.
