Canonical Launches Groundwork to Track Actual Data Center Permits
ai · x · 2026-08-22
Canonical has launched 'Groundwork,' a tool designed to cut through the noise surrounding data centers by tracking actual regulatory filings. For every county tracked, Groundwork publishes exactly what operators have filed with regulators, including the number of sites, backup generators, and permitted emissions. Covering 38 states and 135 counties, the project tracks 487 sites and reveals insights such as the prevalence of permits just below major-source review thresholds.
