Google upgrades Preferred Sources button to return readers to publisher sites

Google has updated the Preferred Sources button that publishers can embed on their sites: after readers click "Add to Preferred Sources" and confirm, they are taken straight back to the page they were originally on instead of staying on Google. New embed code is available for publishers.
Google says readers will more easily find their favorite publications in Top Stories, AI Overviews, and AI Mode, while publishers gain a more seamless way to connect with readers.
