Open-source .char format brings one-file consistent characters to both Flux 2 and Krea 2
ashishsanu · reddit · 2026-08-21
A developer released the open-source .char unified character format (part of Inline Studio, GPL3): one character file works across multiple image models — currently Flux 2 (Klein 4B/8B/dev) and Krea 2, with Minimax H3 in progress.
How it works
- Flux 2 has a native reference channel: .char feeds its reference images straight in, no training, instant.
- Krea 2 lacks one, so .char auto-trains a rank-16 LoRA from the character's references (demo used only 500 steps and 5-6 images; 1500 steps recommended).
File structure: a manifest, 5 reference images, YuNet 512px face crops, a locked description, SFace 128-d + DINOv2 768-d identity centroids for scoring, and per-model payloads (Flux refs / a 183MB Krea LoRA).
Training and generation workflows are downloadable; sample models with full training params are on HuggingFace.
