Two part-time devs open-source imference: a download-and-go local image-gen desktop app

Two part-time developers released imference-desktop (MIT, Windows/macOS), aiming to make local image generation a "download, open, generate" experience with no node graphs or Python environments.
Key features:
- Bundled isolated engine — nothing touches system Python, no CUDA wrestling
- Curated model catalog with auto-downloaded weights, each pre-tuned (steps, CFG, resolution, quality tags)
- Auto-detects GPU and tunes offloading/quantization to VRAM (demoed on an 8GB laptop 4070)
- 7 model families locally: SDXL, SD 1.5, Z-Image, FLUX, Chroma, Qwen-Image, Anima
- Loads your own Civitai .safetensors in place, nothing copied or uploaded
- Prompts and images never leave your machine
Business model: an optional cloud mode for models too big for your GPU funds development; everything local is free with no account required.
