Sakana AI is hiring LLM engineers across pre-training to evaluation in Tokyo

Sakana AI officially opened a Member of Technical Staff (LLM Development) role based in Tokyo, requiring business Japanese and English. The team owns the full LLM pipeline — pre-training, mid-training, post-training and evaluation — for models like Sakana Namazu, covering architecture improvements, training data construction, small-scale experiments, scaling and efficiency work, and supporting the company's RSI research.
Requirements include a master's-equivalent background, 2+ years of ML experience, and hands-on experience designing and debugging multi-GPU jobs; experience training production LLMs, statistical experiment design, HPC understanding, papers or OSS contributions are pluses. Candidates need not meet every criterion.
