NLP expert Yoav Goldberg noted that EMNLP's acceptance rate has dropped to 15%, compared to 20-30% in the past. He argues this doesn't necessarily mean the conference is more prestigious or of higher quality, but rather suggests a lot more 'junk' was submitted, making acceptance rates a bad metric.
