UK AI Safety Institute appoints new Director amid global risk assessment efforts

Henry de Zoete is appointed as the next Director of the UK's AI Safety Institute (AISI), with Nate Burnikell as Chief Strategy Officer. AISI is recognized globally for understanding risks from powerful AI, having previously tested unreleased models like GPT-5 for dangerous capabilities. Seán Ó hÉigeartaigh welcomed the hires, looking forward to collaboration between UK AISI and the EU Scientific Panel.
