Travis Kalanick, founder of Uber, has spent eight years building Atoms in stealth, which just secured a $1.7B investment led by a16z. Kalanick bets that the future of Physical AI extends beyond humanoids to purpose-built machines like automated kitchens and dump trucks. Atoms aims to bring software automation to the physical economy—food, freight, construction—which has yet to see its software moment. XMAQUINA DAO is releasing a research piece and allocation proposal on the project.
