Alibaba has accelerated model releases across modalities in the past month: beyond Qwen3.8-Max (2.4T parameters, #1 on ArtificialAnalysis Agentic), it shipped HappyHorse 1.1 (video), Qwen-Image-3.0 (#1 domestic on Arena.ai text-to-image), the Qwen-Audio-3.0 family (ASR/TTS/Realtime all #1 globally), Wan3.0 (30-second video with document input), the HappyShrimp music model, and the HappyOyster 1.0 world model.

Commercially, Alibaba Cloud's external revenue grew 45%, a 22-quarter high; AI product revenue hit ¥12.376B with 12 straight quarters of triple-digit growth, and AI ARR surpassed ¥49.5B. Pinterest adopted Qwen, with its CEO claiming open-source models cost under 8% of closed-source alternatives.

The article argues multimodal AI has moved from benchmarks into production scenarios (customer service, automotive, e-commerce content, music), driving GPU/storage/network cloud consumption. Alibaba also formed the TokenHub business group and is deploying in-house Yitian/Zhenwu chips across 20+ industries and 650+ external customers, aiming to replace purchased chips to boost margins.
