Investor poll ranks AI supply chain startups under $10B: MatX leads, Lightmatter and Modal close
FinanceYF5 · x · 2026-08-21
Chris Barber ran an X poll asking industry insiders for the most interesting AI supply chain startups (compute, power, chips, datacenters) valued at $10B or less.
MatX topped the vote with 10; American Terawatt got 8; Lightmatter, Modal, and Prime Intellect got 6 each; Valar Atomics and Wafer 4 each; Ayar Labs, d-Matrix, Tenstorrent and others 3 each, plus 49 more startups with single votes. Base Power, Crusoe, Etched and Fluidstack also got nominations but exceeded the valuation cap. Barber disclosed small angel positions in American Terawatt and Wafer and didn't vote. Better read as an industry radar than a formal ranking.
