OpenAI Extends Zero Data Retention via Private Safety Processing
rohanpaul_ai · x · 2026-08-21
OpenAI is making Zero Data Retention a frontier-model feature through Private Safety Processing. Eligible customers can use frontier models without OpenAI retaining prompts or responses.
This addresses risks in longer, autonomous work where safety systems must identify patterns across related interactions. Unlike isolated checks, Private Safety Processing detects risky sequences (e.g., separate queries about pathogens, spread, and evasion) without giving OpenAI personnel access to the underlying content.
