Well-known security researcher Thomas Ptacek, continuing the "IDE is Slack" thread, shared first-hand experience:
- He tried similar chat-based coding on Discord; obviously not secure or private, but "seriously nice" — chat plus a mutable deliverable is frictionless compared to traditional IDEs
- He recently opened VS Code just to check a config file and it felt like an alien landscape
- Most of his code review now happens via chat and voice; the traditional IDE isn't even part of the picture anymore
