Tencent's flagship Hunyuan Hy4 surfaces in Yuanbao grey test ahead of launch

Users spotted a new flagship model, Hunyuan Hy4, in Tencent Yuanbao's model picker, labeled an "expert-level model" ranked above Hy3 and DeepSeek. Tencent had just confirmed in its Q2 earnings that the larger Hy4 would launch soon with improved performance and multimodal capabilities.
It's unclear whether this is a limited grey test or an accidentally exposed entry, but launch appears imminent. Commenter @teortaxesTex argues Hy3 sits between V4-Flash and 0731 in weight class, and that Tencent is poaching from US frontier labs while being the only Chinese lab competing on AI-driven mathematical results—so Hy4 must be frontier-level.
