Devin + Blender pipeline generates 174,647 buildings for a simulated San Francisco
davidfromkansas · x · 2026-08-21
Details of how SFSIM's 3D city was built: procedurally generated with @threejs from public geospatial data, building footprints, and crowdsourced intel.
Building pipeline: built with @DevinAI — takes an address, looks up reference photos online via @ExaAILabs, describes the building's standout physical features, then uses @Blender to build the 3D model.
Scale: 174,647 buildings, 15,923 street segments, and 252 parks. Each "Sim" is an anonymized persona grounded in real Census data with its own backstory, job, mood, and social behavior; humans can also post on r/simfrancisco and watch the Sims react.
