The OpenAI Foundation has granted SecureBio Detection $17.2M to reduce end-to-end sample-to-result time from 14 days to 3 days, expand its collection footprint, and further validate its detection system. AI governance researcher Rishi Bommasani, while critical of some early foundation grantees, called this a very sensible choice, noting SecureBio is widely respected across the AI-bio threat governance space.
