Epoch AI releases directory of 83 global hyperscale AI data centers with compute and pollution metrics
AndyMasley · x · 2026-08-21
Epoch AI has released a directory of 83 hyperscale data centers across North America, Europe, and Asia. Entries include IT power capacity, estimated compute (in H100 equivalents), operator details, satellite imagery, and buildout timelines.
The list ranks xAI's Memphis Colossus as the largest compute facility (1.12M H100-eq), followed by Microsoft's Fairwater Atlanta and Amazon's Anthropic-aimed New Carlisle site. The author suggests using the list to check for local impacts such as noise complaints, water access issues, pollution levels, and rising electricity bills.
