Build a personal Grok bot using MCP: Indexing 500+ podcast episodes
lennysan · x · 2026-08-21
Lenny Rachitsky shares a practical workflow for using Grok and MCP (Model Context Protocol) to transform 500+ podcast episodes and newsletter posts into an interactive advisor.
The Concept:
Create a Grok Bot ("Lennybot") to act as a product/strategy/growth/career advisor. It can answer questions like "How do I find my first 1,000 users?" or "How do I get promoted?".
Technical Implementation:
- Prompting: Instruct the bot to install a custom MCP connector and answer queries using that specific data source.
- MCP Setup: Use the native connector flow (not a local config file). Open the authorization link, complete email sign-in, and enable the connector.
- Verification: Verify the connector by searching the indexed content.
This demonstrates a replicable method for turning a personal content library into an accessible AI assistant.
