MiniMax launches Design: a native Harness for its H3 model, aiming at product companies

MiniMax Design launched, described by the author as a Harness built natively around the H3 multimodal model rather than a traditional design tool. Give it a brief and it decomposes tasks, calls H3's generation, editing and reference-control capabilities, then hands results back for review. It targets commercial content with clear goals and many revision cycles: batch e-commerce ad variants, lesson plans turned into narrated animation, PV/MV/brand films — plus a 3D director stage to place characters and check composition before generating.
The piece traces design software's business models: 1.0 sold licenses (Photoshop), 2.0 sold seats (Sketch/Figma), 3.0 sells output — in the AI era users pay for results and DAU becomes a cost. Adobe's record $6.62B quarter with a falling stock price illustrates the innovator's dilemma: the better the AI, the more it erodes legacy revenue.
The author endorses "Agent = Model + Harness": software used to package capability for humans; now Harnesses package it for Agents — explaining why model companies are taking product companies' positions, with MiniMax playing the first native Harness card in design. Existing ComfyUI workflows can plug in, cloud or local.
