After a Decade Auditing Enterprise AI Projects: Big Consulting Is Causing Systemic Architecture Failures

A consultant with ten years auditing enterprise cloud and AI projects says he's seeing not small mistakes but systemic architectural failures — strategic decisions that would cost clients millions, sometimes tens of millions, over a system's lifetime.
The painful irony: many of these decisions were made or heavily influenced by the large consulting firms hired to prevent exactly this damage. Citing an HBS Working Knowledge article, he notes many firms have become too focused on growth, scale, utilization, and partner economics, diluting professional judgment.
