OpenKnowledge launches ACP to support 'Bring Your Own Agent'
iamrobotbear · x · 2026-08-20
OpenKnowledge launched the Agent Client Protocol (ACP), enabling users to 'bring your own agent' and chat with 35+ agents directly within the app.
Key Features:
- BYOA Model: Standardizes interfacing with agents across 35+ harnesses, unifying subscriptions, skills (MCP), and file system context.
- Follow Mode: Automatically navigates the IDE to files being edited by agents and visualizes changes.
- Comments: Allows annotating specs/docs and sending batch feedback to agents.
This move suggests SaaS apps will converge towards allowing user-preferred agents instead of vendor-locked ones.
