Guangdong, Alibaba Sign Strategic Pact to Boost AI, Chips and Computing Power

China's richest province Guangdong signed a strategic cooperation framework with Alibaba in Guangzhou, with Alibaba pledging increased investment in computing power, AI models and digital services, SCMP reports. Provincial party secretary Huang Kunming urged Alibaba to step up innovation and R&D, pointing to synergies with energy and telecom firms to strengthen computing power, and AI model deployment across consumer electronics, manufacturing and healthcare. Local goods will also be promoted via Alibaba's e-commerce platforms. CEO Eddie Wu called Guangdong a core region in Alibaba's strategy.
