Moderna and Merck's AI-assisted personalized mRNA cancer treatment has succeeded in a Phase 3 trial. The process involves sequencing each patient's tumor, using AI to identify mutations most likely to trigger an immune response, and producing an individualized mRNA treatment encoding up to 34 neoantigens.
Previous Phase 2 data showed:
- 68.8% of patients remained cancer-free at five years vs. 49.1% on Keytruda alone.
- 49% lower risk of recurrence or death.
- 59% lower risk of distant metastasis or death.
