Spectral Neuron Proposes Scalable, Interpretable ML Primitive
alexsht1 · reddit · 2026-08-20
Researchers propose a new machine learning primitive called "Spectral Neuron" with the model form 𝑓(𝒙) = 𝛌ₖ(𝐀₀ + 𝚺ᵢ 𝑥ᵢ𝐀ᵢ). The paper explores the model's expressiveness as matrices grow, the ability to interpret learned matrices directly, and guaranteed shapes. The author provides mathematical derivations, initialization and training recipes, and scaling experiments on synthetic and real data. Code is open-sourced.
