Selling 'pseudo-solutions' works: exploiting users' reluctance to face real pain
lxfater · x · 2026-08-20
People are often unwilling to face problems directly because solving them is painful. Therefore, selling a 'pseudo-solution' that seems related to the real fix can be a hit. For example, buying a DJI Pocket for filming TikTok (doesn't teach filming but feels good to buy) or collecting a booklist for product optimization (instant gratification). While weaknesses hurt us, catering to others' weaknesses can generate profit.
