Benchmark: FP8 Models Run 5x Faster Than GGUF on Low-End Hardware
ROBOTTTTT13 · reddit · 2026-08-20
A user benchmarked on a low-spec machine (6GB VRAM, 16GB RAM) and found that FP8 models run significantly faster than GGUF formats, up to 5x speedup. For Flux 2 Klein 9B, GGUF took 100-200s, while the FP8 version (with GGUF Text Encoders) took only 20-30s. The user questions the relevance of GGUF in 2026 given the superior performance of larger, uncompressed FP8 models.
