Tesla aims for Optimus commercial sales in 2H27; FSD V15 hailed as major leap
chrisfirst · x · 2026-08-20
According to a JPMorgan meeting note, Tesla's Optimus robot is on track for Start of Production (SoP) in the coming months, with commercial sales expected as early as the second half of 2027.
Regarding autonomous driving, Tesla indicated it is intentionally holding back on adding Model Y units to the robotaxi fleet, expressing confidence in scaling the Cybercab in the near term. Tesla views the FSD V15 release as a step-change in performance, comparable to the leap from V13 to V14. The upgrade encompasses seven core technologies, with approximately 40% currently being tested in the robotaxi fleet, where initial feedback has been encouraging. The company continues to focus on minimizing regression in core driving functions and sees FSD V15 as the primary gateway to scaling unsupervised FSD.
