The Asahi Linux team has successfully booted the Linux kernel 7.2 on Apple's M3 chip after months of reverse engineering with zero official support. While it currently only boots to a serial console with full graphics acceleration still in progress, the hardest part is done. This achievement overcomes previous skepticism from Linus Torvalds about the feasibility of running Linux on Apple Silicon.
