"No ORMs in the agent era": devs debate raw SQL vs object-relational mapping
shakoistsLog · x · 2026-08-20
A developer spat over ORMs. One side argues the simplicity ORMs buy breaks down over time — brittle abstractions and non-obvious expensive lookups — and that committing or dynamically generating SQL (or dataframe operators) is easier now that "agents go brrr." The other defends ORMs for flattening the abstraction layer and removing mapping boilerplate from code.
