natesiggard · x · 2026-08-20
Five US agencies issued a warning about an "active threat" targeting Siemens S7 PLCs in water, energy, chemical, and food facilities. Attackers are utilizing AI-generated scripts disguised as monitoring software to infiltrate the small computers controlling pumps, valves, and motors. This allows them to read facility operations and alter machinery behavior, with agencies assessing the activity as pre-positioning for future disruption.
