Hot take: Cerebras inference could speed up OpenAI's R&D loop 20x
Scobleizer · x · 2026-08-20
Investor Patrick Toulme argues people underestimate how important Cerebras will be to OpenAI: with Cerebras' ultra-fast inference, OpenAI could iterate its research (which he frames as RSI) roughly 20x faster—since R&D is fundamentally a function of how fast you can generate tokens and run experiments.
He also speculates OpenAI may hold back much of its Cerebras allocation to prioritize internal RSI over customer revenue. Scoble amplified the take, saying "the one who can inference faster gets to the future faster." This is an unverified personal opinion.
