Extropians mailing list turns 35; Sandberg recalls the roots of techno-optimism

On August 19, 1991 — exactly 35 years ago — Perry Metzger started the Extropians mailing list, quickly filled with the likes of Robin Hanson, Max More, Hal Finney, and Tim May. Anders Sandberg recalls it as formative: it showed him how philosophy and freedom matter, brought him into friendships that persist today, and made him want a glorious future we actually experience, not just dream about.
