Study finds X's ranking algorithm amplifies content misaligned with user values

A new article published in PNAS indicates that social media algorithms often fail to correctly reflect user values. The research shows that while posts from accounts users follow are generally aligned with their values, the content that gets promoted into their ranked feeds is frequently actively counter to those values. This highlights a systematic misalignment in current recommendation systems.
