Startup Space raises $2.4M pre-seed to rebuild the filesystem for AI agents

Space has raised a $2.4M pre-seed round around the thesis of "computers unconstrained by physical limits," starting with the filesystem.
The team argues that despite a decade of cloud infrastructure progress, file access hasn't fundamentally changed: software and agents still talk to a local filesystem, not to cloud storage directly—"working in the cloud" is really an offline copy syncing every few hours. Space replaces the sync engine with its own SpaceFS: it intercepts OS file requests and streams back exactly the needed bytes, giving instant access to every file while using zero disk space, removing download waits for humans and agents alike.
