Testing on a mid-range laptop (4GB VRAM / 16GB RAM) for generating medical physics research scripts, the author found Ornith-1.5 9B outperformed Ling-3.0 Tiny, Qwen 3.5 4B, and Empero. It completed 5 out of 6 tasks in one shot and was the only model capable of improving code based on feedback, suggesting strong performance for its size on limited hardware.
