Cursor shifts Auto to model-based pricing from Aug 24; most requests will cost more
mark_k · x · 2026-08-20
Cursor is switching Auto from a flat rate to model-based pricing starting August 24, 2026. The company admits most requests will cost more than the old flat rate, explaining it needs the room to keep routing everyday work to the cheapest suitable models. Included usage limits for Cursor Models (including Auto) are increasing and already apply to the current billing cycle, with no action needed. Auto still routes each request to the best model for the task and remains Cursor's best intelligence-per-dollar option.
