ChatGPT ads will launch in 31 European countries next week, targeting not just free users but also Go subscribers paying nearly €7 a month. The timing reflects OpenAI's financial strain, with reports of billions in losses exceeding revenue as compute costs outpace income. This is less of a feature rollout and more of a monetization squeeze on all accounts. What started as a small US pilot six months ago is now becoming the default across dozens of countries.
