Stripe to Acquire AI Routing Layer OpenRouter

Menlo Ventures announced that Stripe has entered into an agreement to acquire OpenRouter. In just three years, OpenRouter has established itself as essential AI infrastructure with its vision of routing the right model for the right API request. The acquisition, coming less than a year after OpenRouter's seed round, suggests Stripe aims to integrate this intelligence layer into its AI token economy and transaction flow, beyond the obvious independent revenue potential.
