A solo founder launched dhito (dhito.io), a local AI file-search system for mac: instead of filenames, it finds files by what you remember about their content — e.g. photos from a mountain hiking trip, or resumes listing a specific skill out of a thousand applications. Everything runs locally; no files ever leave the device.
He also shared why he kept building with Gemini: it doesn't try to do everything itself and is good at brainstorming together, letting him (a pre-AI-era engineer) stay in control of the app logic. First launch, actively seeking feedback.
