Ornith-1.5 Open Source Models Released; 9B Version Rivals Qwen on Mobile

The Ornith-1.5 family of open-source LLMs has been released, featuring 9B Dense, 35B MoE, and 397B MoE variants. Trained with end-to-end self-improving strategies, they achieve SOTA performance among comparable open-source models. The 9B version runs on mobile devices and keeps pace with Qwen 3.6. It reportedly delivers performance comparable to Claude Opus 4.8 in reasoning, agentic, and coding tasks, scoring 86 on SWE-Bench Verified and 86.1 on Terminal-Bench 2.1.
