Claude achieves 35% success rate in protein design, accelerates chemical analysis

Anthropic published significant results applying Claude to scientific tasks. In protein design, Claude (Mythos Preview & Opus 4.8) designed binders for 15 targets with 14 successes, achieving a 22-35% individual design success rate compared to the industry standard of 10-15%. Some designs exhibited binding affinities several times stronger than previous bests. In chemical analysis, Claude Opus 5 analyzed raw NMR and LC-MS data in 19-23 minutes with just a brief prompt, matching lab results on hydrogen counts and purity (96.4% vs 96.33%). Prompts and experimental data have been open-sourced.
